 THE STORY OF A MEETING

The history of Les Sources de Caudalie dates back to the 1990s, when Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, a French couple, discovered the benefits of grape extracts for the skin. Following a fabulous meeting with Professor Joseph Vercauteren of Bordeaux University, they discovered the exceptional antioxidant properties of grapes. From there, they decided to create their own line of grape and wine-based cosmetics. In 1995, Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas opened the first Vinothérapie spa at Château Smith Haut Lafitte, their family wine estate in Martillac, near Bordeaux. The spa was designed to offer innovative beauty treatments using grape extracts and natural wine products, and its success led to the creation of Les Sources de Caudalie hotel in 1999. Over the years, Les Sources de Caudalie has become a destination of choice for lovers of wine, well-being and gastronomy. The resort has gained international renown for its innovative spa treatments, gourmet cuisine and idyllic location amidst the vineyards.

THE STORY OF PASSION AND INNOVATION

A UNIQUE WELL-BEING EXPERIENCE

The brand's products are formulated with ingredients of natural origin, favouring grape extracts, grape seeds, grape water and vegetable oils. Caudalie also uses ingredients that respect the environment and the skin, avoiding parabens, phenoxyethanol, mineral oils, sulphates and ingredients of animal origin. Caudalie is renowned for its expertise in antioxidants, which are abundant in grapes. Antioxidants help fight free radicals, which are responsible for premature skin ageing. The brand has developed a patented technology called 'Vinotherapie', which harnesses the benefits of grape polyphenols to provide anti-ageing and protective skin care. The spa offers a complete range of treatments inspired by vinotherapy, a method developed by Caudalie that uses the antioxidant and regenerative properties of grapes. The products used in the treatments are formulated from natural ingredients such as grape water, grape seeds, grape extracts and vegetable oils.

UNE EXPÉRIENCE LUXUEUSE ET RAFFINÉE

A five-star establishment located in the Bordeaux wine region, Les Sources de Caudalie offers a luxurious and refined experience in an idyllic setting surrounded by vineyards. The hotel is housed in Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a historic wine estate dating back to the 18th century. The architecture of the hotel reflects the traditional style of the Bordeaux region, combining ancient charm with modernity. The decoration of the hotel is characterised by an elegant, refined and country style, which reflects the essence of the Bordeaux region. Its architecture is inspired by the region's ancient châteaux and wine estates. Here you can discover elegantly decorated rooms and suites offering top-of-the-range comfort. Natural materials such as wood, stone and wrought iron are used extensively to create a warm, authentic atmosphere. Every detail is carefully thought out to create a warm and relaxing atmosphere, with modern facilities and panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards.

A CULINARY AND OENOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE

Les Sources de Caudalie also offers an upmarket culinary experience with two restaurants and two bars, each with a distinct atmosphere and cuisine inspired by the Bordeaux region. The gastronomic restaurant La Grand'Vigne, awarded two Michelin stars, offers inventive cuisine featuring local produce and wines from the region. The menu is devised by chef Nicolas Masse, who uses seasonal ingredients to create innovative and delicate dishes. The dining room is spacious and bright, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding vineyards. The second restaurant, La Table du Lavoir, is located in a renovated former stone laundry and offers a relaxed, rustic atmosphere. The menu offers traditional French cuisine, featuring local produce and regional specialities such as foie gras, oysters and cheeses.

The Rouge bar, located in the hotel lobby, is a stylish and comfortable place to enjoy a selection of cocktails, wines and champagnes. The bar is decorated in a contemporary style with vibrant colours and elegant furniture. The La Cave bar, located in the basement of the hotel, is an intimate place for wine lovers, offering a selection of over 600 different wines and champagnes, with tastings and advice from expert sommeliers. The bar is also an ideal venue for private events and personalised wine tastings.
