Cappadocia,

land of natural and heritage treasures

Cappadocia is located in the heart of Turkey, in a semi-arid region. Its lunar landscape, shaped by millennia of volcanic erosion, is famous for its majestic fairy chimneys and colorful valleys, offering a breathtaking surreal view. The region is also known for its cave dwellings, with villages like Göreme and Ürgüp where houses and churches are carved directly into the rock. Besides its geological wonders, Cappadocia offers an unforgettable hot air balloon experience, flying over the spectacular landscapes at sunrise. Hikers can explore the valleys, while wine lovers can taste local wines in traditional cellars. You can explore these wonders on foot, by bike, or from the skies in a hot air balloon, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views. With its rich cultural heritage, intriguing underground cities and magical atmosphere, Cappadocia is a must-see destination for anyone looking to combine adventure, relaxation and discovery.

Why discover Cappadocia ?

Cappadocia, a fascinating region:

  • A Surreal Landscape

Cappadocia is famous for its extraordinary rock formations, created by millions of years of volcanic erosion. You'll find fairy chimneys, conical rock formations that look like giant mushrooms, and deep, colorful valleys. Geological formations, such as fairy chimneys, and mesas (plateaus) give the region an almost lunar landscape.

  • Troglodyte Towns and Villages

A fascinating feature of Cappadocia is its cave inhabitants. Many towns and villages in the region, such as Göreme, Ürgüp, and Uçhisar, are built in settlements cut directly into the rock. Cave dwellings are often connected by tunnels and underground passages, creating complex networks underground.

  • Rock Churches and Monasteries

The region is home to several cave churches and monasteries, mainly in the Göreme Valley. These rock-cut churches are decorated with ancient frescoes depicting biblical scenes. The most famous sites include the Church of Tokalı, the Church of Saint Barbara, and the Church of the Serpents.

  • Vineyards and Gastronomy

Cappadocia is also a renowned wine region, with vineyards producing quality local wines. You can visit wine cellars and taste regional wines in traditional taverns. The region's gastronomy is rich and varied, offering specialties like manti (Turkish dumplings), testi kebab (stew cooked in an earthenware pot), and pide (Turkish pizza).

  • Outdoor Activities and Adventure

Cappadocia offers a multitude of outdoor activities:

> Hiking: Explore the region's many valleys, such as the Love Valley, the Valley of Roses, and the Zemi Valley, which offer spectacular hiking trails.

> Cycling: Cycle through the incredible landscapes and dirt roads.

> Hot air balloon: A hot air balloon flight is an unmissable experience to see the landscape from above.

  • Historical and Cultural Heritage

Cappadocia has a rich historical heritage with archaeological sites such as the underground cities of Derinkuyu and Kaymakli, which were once refuges for locals from invasions. These underground complexes can go up to eight levels deep and are fascinating to explore.

  • Climate and Best Time to Visit

Cappadocia has a continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters. The best times to visit are spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November), when the weather is pleasant and the scenery is particularly beautiful.

  • Accommodation and Comfort

The region offers a range of accommodation, from cave hotels offering a unique experience of sleeping in rooms carved into the rock, to luxury hotels with all modern conveniences. Local guesthouses and hostels also offer more economical and authentic options.

  • Accessibility and Transportation

Cappadocia is accessible by air, with airports in Kayseri and Nevşehir. It is also possible to travel by car or bus from other major Turkish cities such as Istanbul and Ankara. Onsite, car rentals or guided tours are popular options for exploring the area.

 The hot air balloon flight

Taking a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia is a magical and unforgettable adventure. The experience begins at dawn, when the air is cool and calm, providing ideal conditions for flight. Arriving at the launch site, you will see the teams preparing the hot air balloons, a spectacle in itself, with the balloons inflating and taking shape under the first light of day. Once in the air, you'll be amazed by the panoramic views of fairy chimneys, colorful valleys, and rock-cut cave towns. The sunrise illuminates the landscape with golden light, creating a surreal and peaceful scene. As you float silently above this stunning backdrop, you can observe other multi-colored balloons giving the sky additional beauty. After about an hour of flight, landing is usually followed by a traditional celebration with champagne and the presentation of a souvenir certificate, commemorating this extraordinary flying experience. Flying a hot air balloon in Cappadocia is a captivating adventure that offers a unique perspective on one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world.
